Born in the city of São Paulo, Brazil, Silva began his training in Taekwondo when he was 5 years old, becoming a black belt by 18, second black Pra Jiad in Muay Thai, and a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu. In 2001, he won his first belt in a big MMA event, in a tournament by Shooto Association for the Middleweight belt. After many fights and challenges, 17 years ago, in July 28th of 2006, Anderson Silva made his debut on UFC 64 with a knockout victory against Chris Leben in the first 49 seconds of the first round, the fastest fight in his career. In the same year, Anderson Silva had the opportunity to fight for the Middleweight belt, and he overwhelmingly won against Rich Franklin in the first round.
