A venerated Jedi in the Order, Qui-Gon Jinn has the respect and admiration of the Jedi Council, if perhaps not always their full confidence. Something of a maverick among his peers, the wise knight believes in living in the moment and trusting his instincts more so than most Jedi. Where the Jedi Order places great value in meditative reflection, Qui-Gon is a man of action, sometimes acting impetuously and recklessly in the eyes of the Council. Known for his occasional disregard of their rules, Qui-Gon has not yet been given a seat among the Jedi's governing elite, though his experience and leadership qualities have almost certainly earned him such an honor.

During the Naboo blockade by Trade Federation forces, Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi are dispatched to act as mediators. While young Obi-Wan is nagged by prescient doubts about the mission, Qui-Gon councils him to focus on the moment and not allow anxiety to cloud his thinking and actions. The situation deteriorates quickly when the Federation's treachery is revealed, and Qui-Gon and his apprentice become fugitives along with Naboo's Queen Amidala.

Whilst escorting the Queen to safety on Coruscant, the Jedi inadvertently stumble upon the Force-gifted slave boy Anakin Skywalker, in whom Qui-Gon recognizes the potential for a great destiny. Master Qui-Gon is familiar with an ancient Jedi prophecy concerning the emergence of one who would bring balance to the Force and his feelings tell him that Anakin might be that one. Despite a direct order not to do so by the Jedi Council, who have grave doubts about the boy, Qui-Gon trusts in his feelings and elects to make Anakin his ward, teaching him all that he can about the Force, no matter where that path might lead.

Governing the Order of the Jedi during the tempestuous Clone Wars is the Jedi Council, a twelve-being body comprised of masters of many talents, some warriors of great renown, others sagely and studious, but all wise and selfless, having distinguished themselves by their dedication to enduring peace and justice. Steering this assemblage by example are two of the greatest Jedi of all time. Master Yoda, almost a full millennium in age, wise beyond measure and keenly perceptive, is the sagely grandfather-figure of the current order. Though outwardly small and frail, his tiny frame is a conduit for the power of the Force, which flows through him like a river.

In counterpoint to the understated reserve of Yoda, beside him on the council sits the mighty Mace Windu, a Jedi master whose seething intensity and piercing gaze can melt an opponent's resolve with barely a glance. No less wise than Yoda, Mace's presence is a reminder to all of the strength of the Jedi that flows from the Force. As a swordsman, he is unmatched in skill, the master of vaapad- a dangerously powerful lightsaber technique that unleashes tremendous destructive force and can only be wielded by the most vigilant and self-possessed of Jedi.

During the Clone Wars, Mace Windu's directness and clarity of vision see him taking the role of most senior general in the Grand Army of the Republic. The campaign forges ahead under his leadership, often with Mace himself leading the charge. The Korun Jedi's unique electrum finish, violet-hued lightsaber, seen thrumming and flashing on the front line, is sure to sew fear and doubt among the Separatist leaders.

It is Mace's ability to see the grand picture, even in the heat of battle, that makes him the leader he is, and as the war drags on, an uneasiness concerning the role of the Republic's own Chancellor begins to grow into cool distrust and suspicion. Of all the Jedi, it is Mace Windu who first suspects that the true goal of the war might not be the endurance of the democratic Republic, but the destruction of the Jedi who protect it.

The embodiment of Jedi ideals, Obi-Wan Kenobi is both wise and strong. His patience and keen powers of observation have served him well as one of the Jedi Order's most masterful negotiators. These qualities are matched in measure by his swiftness and skill with a lightsaber, making him Master Yoda's first choice for many unconventional missions. Dependable and trustworthy are traits the Jedi Council has come to associate with Obi-Wan, and his successes in the Outer Rim campaign have earned him a seat among their number by the final days of the Clone Wars.

Having taken on the training of Anakin Skywalker since the death of his own Master Qui-Gon Jinn on Naboo, Obi-Wan has tutored the young Jedi in the ways of the Force to the best of his ability and the two have become fast friends, remaining together long after Anakin's graduation to full Jedi Knight. Their trust in one another and complimentary styles have helped mold them into a virtually unstoppable team in battle, equally dangerous to Separatist enemies whether flying wingtip to wingtip in space or fighting back to back with lightsabers on the ground. Even in the company of famous Jedi warriors such as the lethally efficient Agen Kolar, starfighter-ace Saesee Tiin or swift Kit Fisto, Obi-Wan and Anakin have gained flashy reputations as the Republic's champions in the Outer Rim Sieges.

Called home to Coruscant by a Separatist attack, Obi-Wan is Anakin's most fervent supporter when the tempestuous Jedi's loyalties are questioned by the Council. While he is wary of Anakin's darker side, Obi-Wan has faith in his friend's innate goodness and ability to master his own passions and formidable power. Even when sent by Yoda to Utapau in search of General Grievous, a mission Anakin sorely coveted, Obi-Wan's confidence in his troubled former apprentice is unshaken. They part as friends and brothers, unaware that the next time they meet, it will be to fight to the death.

While the greatest of the Jedi were wise and keen of mind, in the days of the Clone Wars, it is the fighting strength of the Order that is most often called upon to defend the Republic. In the many sieges and battles that are being waged across the Galaxy, individual Jedi distinguish themselves as warriors and generals, leading their clone troops into battle tirelessly and without fear. Among these great Knights of the Republic is Kit Fisto, an amphibious Nautolan from Glee Anselm.

Fisto is a master of Form 1 lightsaber technique, the style of fighting that is taught to all Jedi initiates as the basis of their saber training, but perfected by only a handful of masters. Kit's skill with a blade is matched by his sharp senses. As a Nautolan, the Jedi Knight was born with an array of twitching head tentacles that are naturally sensitive to faint odours, such as the subtle pheromones given off by all living things. Augmented by his Jedi training, Fisto's chemical sensitivity is acute enough to pick up on the minute changes brought on by mood change in other beings. It is an edge that has granted him an uncanny ability to read the intentions of adversaries and foes, either across a negotiating table, or in the heat of battle. Underwater, a Nautolan's natural habitat, this sense is even more acute.

Knowing of Kit Fisto's aquatic strengths, the Jedi Order sends him to the pelagic world of Mon Calamari to prevent the Quarren Isolation League from tearing the planet out of the Republic. Fisto leads a combined Mon Calamari and aquatic Clone Trooper force to victory, cementing his reputation as one of the most formidable Jedi Knights of the Clone Wars.

Following his defeat at Cloud City and Darth Vader's stunning revelation, Luke makes his recovery in the care of Leia and the Rebellion's finest medics. His new artificial hand is a sobering reminder of the power of the dark side, and his near brush with death. Resolving to complete his training in the face of these challenges, the young Jedi returns to Dagobah to seek answers from his old master Yoda, but arrives in time to find the ancient Jedi nearing the end of his long life. With his master's passing, Luke becomes the last of the Jedi... but a new hope is kindled when Luke learns of his twin sister, Leia, and the promise they both hold for the return of the Jedi.

Upon Luke's return, the Rebellion launches its final, desperate attack on the Empire, a perilous strike against the new Death Star. Luke and his friends form a covert strike team to disarm the Empire's crucial defenses on the forest moon of Endor. Luke feels the powerful presence of his father, Darth Vader, but rather than sewing doubt and fear, the Sith Lord's proximity only strengthens the young Jedi's determination to confront him one more time. Staking everything on his belief in the innate goodness that must reside somewhere within the Dark Lord, Luke leaves his friends and seeks out Darth Vader, giving himself up to the Empire as a prisoner.

Confronting his father, Luke appeals to the man Vader used to be, the courageous Jedi Knight, Anakin Skywalker, but it is only when he makes the ultimate sacrifice, refusing to fight Vader in the full knowledge that this will mean his own death, that Luke's appeal reaches the Dark Lord's heart. Turning on his Emperor, Vader saves Luke and destroys the Sith in one action, thereby fulfilling his destiny and securing the future of the Jedi. But it is Luke's resolute belief in Vader and his commitment to the Jedi ideals that have truly saved the galaxy and the soul of Anakin Skywalker.
