The Sd.Kfz.234/2 (or "Puma") was a heavily armed, lightly armored German fighting vehicle. The Sd.Kfz.234/2 was initially designed with an air-cooled engine for North Africa, but was put in production after the Germans were driven out of Africa in May 1943 and was mostly used on the Eastern and Western fronts. A massive vehicle, it still moved quickly, and was capable of speeds in excess of 50 mph. Although it was heavily armed, it was thinly armored, and thus was used primarily a recon vehicle. Only 101 Sd.Kfz.234s were ever produced, although three other variants were in use to the end of the war. Just under 500 Sd.Kfz.234s  of all types were ultimately produced.
