Dragon Armor’s first ever 1/72 scale 1/4-Ton Truck (Item No.60505) met with instant favor from model vehicle collectors the world over. Now Dragon Armor offers a second selection of perhaps the most iconic military vehicle of all time.
Dragon Armor is following up its earlier release of a 1/72 scale Kfz.70 6x4 truck with a second version. This type of vehicle served throughout WWII after mass production commenced in 1933. A total of about 7,000 trucks were produced up till 1942. This 6x4 vehicle was powered by an air-cooled 3.308-liter flat-four engine. The horizontal engine gave rise to the truck’s distinctive sharply sloped nose, and also to its nickname “Boxer”. The truck was used for all kinds of purposes, and it was commonly employed for towing light artillery pieces such as the 3.7cm Pak 35/36 antitank cannon. However, Dragon’s new item shows the truck in its Kfz.70 Personnel Carrier configuration.
In recent weeks Dragon Armor launched a fully built-up 1/72 scale model of the Kfz.70 Personnel Carrier (Item No.60427). Dragon Armor is now following up this popular release with another important German soft-skin vehicle from WWII. The new item is a Heavy Uniform Personnel Vehicle Type 40. This 4x4 heavy car served in all theaters of WWII. The original Type 1a had four-wheel steering, while the later Type 1b produced from 1940 onwards had regular front-wheel steering. This vehicle possessed four-wheel drive, but production ceased in 1941 as part of German efforts to standardize production. The personnel carrier was powered by a V8 Horch engine of 3.823-litre capacity.
